‘ The River Teifi ‘ Cenarth Bridge’ Carmarthonshire

'The River Teifi', Cenarth Bridge' Camarthonshire
“Cenarth sits astride the Teifi – mostly in Carmarthenshire, but also partly in Ceredigion. There is a spectacular water fall and salmon leap and is one of the best places to see the coracles. In fact, annual coracle races take place in Cenarth at the end of July. The picturesque 200 year old bridge is an attraction in itself and features in most tourist brochures of Wales. The walk beside the famous falls enables you to meander for some distance beside the peaceful Teifi.”

Ken and Amanda Edwards, who I didn’t know at the time, dropped in by chance at my gallery. They run a Bed and Breakfast business which is not to far from Cenarth Bridge. They were on route to the Potteries, Stoke-On-Trent, too purchase crockery for their B & B. Ken was impressed with my work on show at the gallery and it transpired that he was a keen amateur painter. We took an instant like to one another and before he and Amanda had left the gallery, arranged  B & B at their lovely farmhouse, in exchange for some painting lessons.

I’ve visited Cenarth Bridge on numerous occasions, in the past, but was unaware that Ken & Amanda lived close by. It seemed the obvious subject to use for Ken as a painting exercise.

I used sketches and photographs as a reference and did this painting back in my studio.
