‘Castle Ruin’ Doddington Hall Doddington Cheshire, you will find it on the A51

‘Castle Ruin’ the title of this painting is of Doddington Castle (Delves Hall) Part of the Doddington Hall Estate. Doddington is situated only a few miles from my house which lies on an old coaching road which runs from Chester to London on the A51.

You can see hall which sits behind a lake as you pass the drive along side the road ( A51) which takes you up to the estate.

As you travel along the road passed the main entrance to the estate you can just make out the top of the castle across some fields and never realized at the time that it was a castle or even part of the estate, let alone the historical significance of the place, at one time it was used as a garrison for the Parliamentarians during the 1642 –1651 English civil war. http://www.castlesuncovered.com/england/doddingtoncastle.htm.
