An oil painting of the Avocet, the emblem bird of the RSPB and a schedule 1 species.

An oil painting on a panel of the Avocet, a wading bird and the emblem bird of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

This is one of my favourite birds which happens to have a schedule1rating and the emblem bird of the RSPB.

One of the most important things with the painting of birds, (obviously the perspective is down to being able to draw) is getting the colours of the plumage right. In particular with series bird watchers and experts in ornithology etc, you just have to get things right.

I have an interest and curiosity with most things and sometimes find it difficult in focusing on anyone thing to paint.

Whether it be a landscape a still Life etc, sometimes I can’t seem to concentrate on any one subject and end up with a sort of writers block and can spend pointless hours deciding what to do next, there is such a lot out there I would like to paint.
