The working gallery of artist Derek Shapiro

On September 1st 2002, resident artist Derek Shapiro opened an exciting new Fine Art Gallery at Slater’s Craft Village, Maer, Newcastle in the Staffordshire countryside.  At the gallery you can view a fine collection of  Still Life , Landscape , Animals , Birds , Wildlife and Figurative top quality paintings.

As well as paintings you will find a range of  Derek Shapiro Signed Limited Edition Prints and a collection of authentic Lost Wax Bronzes.

Derek Shapiro has been equally classified as a painter of landscape, still life, animals and portraits, whether it be of people or animals. Whatever the subject, he is considered to be a much respected and leading fine artist.

Derek trained at Coalport China, famed for its hand painted giftware. He now works freelance, painting in oils and watercolours, and specialises in commissioned work. He uses the same traditional nineteenth century methods handed down at his days with Coalport, giving his work a timeless quality which is difficult to date; it is hard to say if they were painted in this century or the last.

Paintings start from around £495 and go up depending on size and complexity. All paintings are finished off in the finest quality handmade frames and are included in the price. Anyone interested in his work, commissions or otherwise on any subject please telephone Derek and discuss your requirements.
